Italian Cookie Class: Cucidati – sweet pastry dough surrounding a fig, raisin, honey, and cocoa powder filling topped with icing and sprinkles.
Sunday, December 11, 2022, 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm Pacific time. $40 (on Zoom). Limited to 10 households.
I can’t think of a more festive Italian cookie that is so much fun to make and so delicious. When you bite into a cucidati, you taste the figs spiced with cinnamon, cocoa, and honey and understand the complexities of the Sicilian cuisine with its many culinary influences.
Traditionally, baking these cookies is a family affair with each family making their own unique version of the cucidati. So please invite friends, kids, and grandkids to make, roll, and decorate these cookies together.
You will learn to make a simple pastry dough that can be used for many other desserts, pies, and cookies.
During the fall months, when figs are in season, I will buy a large quantity, dry them and then freeze them so my dried figs are ready for the holiday season. Thankfully, many stores sell dried figs year round, so we can make these cookies at holiday time.
I can’t wait to make these Italian treats together! After you submit your payment, I will send you an email with the recipe, ingredients and equipment list, and the Zoom link.
